Amanda Boldly Goes is a lifestyle, travel, and motherhood blog celebrating everyday magic through fandom, fashion, and family life.

Originally launched in December 2010 while I was in college, the site began as a creative outlet for my random thoughts and niche interests – from convention style and fandom finds to beauty and pop culture. Back then, it lived under the name The Geeky Fashionista and served as a companion to my YouTube channel of the same name.

As my life evolved, so did the brand. What started as a fashion-focused fandom blog has grown into a full lifestyle space where I share theme park adventures, travel guides, cosplay and inspired style, home inspiration, and motherhood moments – alongside collaborations with brands I genuinely love.

After rebranding to Amanda Boldly Goes — a name inspired by the iconic Star Trek phrase “to boldly go where no one has gone before” – the platform took on a broader meaning: embracing adventure, creativity, and joy in every stage of life.

Today, my blog and Instagram serve as my main storytelling spaces, where I document life “boldly going” through fandom, family, and fun – proving you don’t have to outgrow what you love as you grow up.

Hi, I’m Amanda — creator of Amanda Boldly Goes (formerly The Geeky Fashionista).

I was born and raised in Florida and graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Retail Merchandising & Product Development. After college, I spent time working in Fashion PR in New York City before eventually making my way to Los Angeles, where life – and this brand – really began to take shape.

I started my blog while I was still in school alongside my YouTube channel, never imagining it would still be such a huge part of my life all these years later. Now, more than 15 years later, this space has grown with me through every phase of adulthood, from college days to career shifts to motherhood. Today, I’m in my mid-thirties, married to my dream man Luke, and we live with our ragdoll cat, daughter, and soon to be here baby boy. Professionally, my path has been rooted in entertainment and media. After working at a talent agency in Hollywood, I went on to roles with Hallmark Channel and later CBS/Paramount, where I built my career in television and entertainment research. These days, I’m in a season of transition, taking time to figure out what’s next professionally while continuing to grow my platform and lean into the creative work I love most.

Through Amanda Boldly Goes, I blend my passions for pop culture, travel, style, and storytelling – documenting conventions, theme parks, cruises, cozy home life, and everyday adventures. This blog continues to be my creative home base, and I’m so grateful it’s evolved alongside me for over a decade and counting.

Hello, Internet friends. I’m Melissa, Amanda’s sister and fellow geeky fashionista. I’ve watched Amanda develop and expand this blog over the years, and even helped out here and there with editing and photography. But now I’m actually contributing my writing talents as an author! I studied film in college and am currently pursuing a career in television writing, so hopefully I don’t have a bunch of spellng errors or anything.
